Shoaib matching winning spell against India

Shoaib Akhtar has bowled many match winning spells for Pakistan. He was one of those bowlers who always had a fear in the hearts of the batters. In fact the best batsmen were never in their comfort zone while facing the speed of Shoaib Akhtar.

Shoaib Akhtar was lightning fast. He was one of those bowlers who always believed in bowling fast. Shoaib did not bowl much variations in his career. He used to bowl fast and that was the ultimate thing for him. Even his slower balls are limited in number.

Here we see him coming in for a crucial spell against India. The match was in a stiff position. Anyone could have won this one and Shoaib changed the complexion of the game for Pakistan. He took two wickets on two balls and put Pakistan on top of India.

Shoaib is a fear for batsmen Pakistani cricketer. He is known as the fastest bowler ever in the history of cricket and has bowled the fastest delivery officially recorded at a top speed of 161.3km/h. Akhtar was nicknamed as "Rawalpindi Express", as a tribute to his hometown and fast bowling. He is widely acknowledged as a legend in cricket history & one of the greatest fast bowlers ever.

Akhtar made his Test debut in November 1997 as an opening fast bowler and played his first One Day International 3 months later. On 1 April 2008, Akhtar was banned for 5 years for publicly criticising the Pakistan Cricket Board. In October 2008, the Lahore High Court in Pakistan suspended the five-year ban and Akhtar was selected in the 15-man squad for the Twenty20 Quadrangular Tournament in Canada. Pakistani judge Rana Bhagwandas once stated that Akhtar is a legend of Pakistan cricket. Akhtar retired from international cricket after the 2011 World Cup.

Akhtar has a number of fast bowling records. He has bowled at speeds of 159.3 km/h, 160 km/h, 159 km/h and 158.4 km/h. The fastest was against England in the 2003 Cricket World Cup when the ball was recorded at 161.3 km/h. The next fastest three were against New Zealand in 2002 and the other three were against Sri Lanka in the same year. He is the first bowler in the history of cricket to have been recorded to bowl over 100 mph.
