DUBAI: Star all-rounder Shahid Afridi who received an injury during the play off against Karachi Kings on Friday is not likely to play the final of the Pakistan Super League on Sunday.
In a video message posted on his facebook page, Afridi said "it was my desire to play PSL final in Lahore. But sorry, i can't. I won't be able to play because doctors advised rest for 10 days". It was my strong desire to play on my homeland, among my own people, but sometimes things are not in your control".
The former captain of the Pakistani team congratulated Zalmi for qualifying for the final and expressed his best wishes for Quetta Gladiators. Afridi who didn't speak much about the nature of his injury in the video message is said to have received 12 stitches to his wound that was result of a drive by Karachi Kings batsman Pollard.
Afridi's right hand was enveloped in white bandages as he appeared in the video few hours after the match.
Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will clash in the final of the PSL in Lahore’s Qaddhafi Stadium on Sunday.
Zalmi qualified for the final after defeating Karachi Kings by 24 runs.
