Afridi injured after missing Pollard catch

The former Pakistan captain injured his right hand on Friday while attempting to catch a drive from Kieron Pollard off Hassan Ali. According to sources, Afridi was immediately rushed for first aid and received 12 stitches to his right hand.
Photos from social media showed Afridi with a heavily bandaged right-hand after receiving first aid treatment.

The repetitive action of bowling for long spells places excessive stress on the tissues of the lower back, where stress fractures of the vertebra (spondylolysis or spondylolisthesis) can develop. Research has indicated that muscle injuries such as hamstring strains and side strains are the most common cricket injuries.

Mallet finger is a common injury in cricket caused by the ball hitting the tip of the finger. The end of the finger is violently bent by the impact, resulting in a rupture of the tendon that straightens the end joint (known as the distal joint).

Pakistan's superstar cricketer Shahid Afridi would not be able to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) final due to an injury, reported Dunya News.

Afridi confirmed that he would not play, in a video which he posted on his Facebook page. He said that he has advised by doctors to take a rest for at least 10 days.

Afridi received 12 stitches on his hand, after he got injured while attempting to take Kieron Pollard s catch in the match against Karachi Kings.

Afridi said sorry to his fans and told that he wanted to perform well in the final after not showing satisfactory performance in World T20.
