SHARJAH: Riding on a match-winning half century by Sam Billings, the Islamabad United scripted its second win in three games in Pakistan Super League on Wednesday with a six-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators.
England’s Sam Billings smashed three sixes and eight fours to score an unbeaten 78 off 50 deliveries to help Islamabad United reach the target in the last over with five balls remaining.

Billings was supported well by Shane Watson, who scored 36 off 27 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and two shots over the boundary line.

The duo added 63 runs for the 4th wicket in 43 deliveries after Islamabad had lost three wickets for 73 runs in 11th over, thanks to disciplined bowling by Muhammad Nawaz.

Nawaz got two wickets for 18 runs in with his economical bowling in four Overs. Thisara Perera conceded 40 runs in 3.1 Overs.

Earlier, a collective effort by batsmen helped Quetta Gladiators set the target of 149 runs for Islamabad United in the 7th match of Pakistan Super League.

Quetta went off to a good start when Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shahzad added 35 runs for the first wicket in four overs, after Islamabad United won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Ahmed Shahzad was caught by Zohaib Khan off Mohammad Sami’s delivery after scoring 26 off 15 with the help of one six and three fours. On the following delivery, Kevin Pietersen was trapped LBW by Sami without opening his scorer account.

Rilee Rossouw survived the hat-trick delivery, but couldn’t score much and fell prey of Watson’s delivery while attempting to hit over the boundary after scoring 7.

Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed could score 12 of 11. Asad Shafiq remained defiant but fell five runs short of his half century. His 45 came off 42 deliveries, with the help of four boundaries.

Mahmudullah of Bangladesh and Thisara Perera provided solid partnership towards the end as Quetta closed the innings at a respectable total of 148/6 in 20 overs.

The duo added 46 runs in 4.5 Overs. Mahmdullah remained not out after scoring 29 off 20. Perera was run out off the last delivery of innings after scoring 27 off 18 balls.

With this Islamabad United’s win over Quetta Gladiators, three teams – Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta – have two wins from three games and four points each. Peshawar Zalmi leads the chart on better run rate, followed by Quetta at second and Islamabad at third in the tables.

Great catches by Wahab Riaz and Babar Azam against Australia

After Pakistan's woeful fielding in the fourth ODI I in Sydney, they wanted to start well in Adelaide. Alas, the first ball of the match, David Warner r edged an out swinger from Mohammad Amir and at second slip, Azhar Ali hurled out his left hand but couldn't make the ball stick. It was a tough chance, but a costly one. Warner went on to make 179, his career-best knock in ODIs. Warner was dropped again, though by this time he already had 130. And this time it was a sitter. Warner skied the ball off Hasan Ali and Amir, running in from long-on, positioned himself perfectly under the ball, only to have it spill straight through his fingers. It was less costly than Azhar's miss, although Warner still added almost 50 more runs from that point. Straight after Amir's blunder, the TV cameras cut to Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur and fielding mentor Steve Rixon. Heads were in hands, faces were long, and no words were being spoken. The fifth and final ODI of the series between Pa...
