Shoaib Akhtar injures Ganguly with a bouncer


Shoaib Akhtar once injured the Indian opening batsman and captain Sourav Ganguly with the ball. Shoaib was always very expressive with his pace. He used to hit the ball hard on the pitch and generate bounce with pace. This used to make him really difficult to play.


This game was played between Pakistan and India on an Indian ground. Shoaib hit the ball in the ribcage of Sourav Ganguly and made him lie flat on the wicket. Ganguly was taken out of the ground and into the hospital. Later it was revealed that he got a few ribs broken and he remained out of international cricket for some time.

This was a pretty dangerous ball from Shoaib. On a flat wicket he was able to make the ball bounce up. The ball went straight towards the body of the batter. Ganguly was never good in playing short balls which used to come in towards his body.

He missed this one and Shoaib was able to hit the rubs of Ganguly. The ball made a devastating impact. Ganguly fell down and was in severe pain. He was transferred to the hospital. The reports showed that Shoaib broke a few ribs of his. He was asked to take a leave from cricket for a couple of months. Shoaib was this sort of a bowler who used to put fear in the hearts of the batters like this.

Pakistani speed star Shoaib Akhtar was one the most dangerous bowlers in the world. He injured a lot of batsmen in his career. Sourav Ganguly once got his few ribs broken courtesy to a bouncer from Shoaib. Ganguly had to take a leave from cricket for some months after this injury.

Shoaib here bowled this ball with pace and into the body of Ganguly. The left handed batsman failed to put his bat in this rising delivery and as a result the ball hit him on the ribs. Ganguly was down in no time and he was then taken to hospital. He did not return to cricket for a few months.

This series was played in India hence the Pakistan team had to prove themselves here. They played well in the event and made sure that they dominate the proceedings in every game. Shoaib was the ace strike bowler for Pakistan in this tournament. He was young and energetic and he took a good number of wickets in the series.

As for this ball, it was a tough one for the batsman. In fact any batsman would have made issues with this one. Ganguly was not good with short balls and that too towards the body. He was taken by surprise here and as a result the ball hit him. Shoaib was this kind of a bowler.
